Meet Rebecca during the Edible Art Tour on Friday, June 10th, 5-8pm.
Through her oil paintings, Rebecca Haines explores the dynamic presence, mystery, and message of wild creatures, from coyotes to deer to owls. Her unique blur of abstraction and representational drawings create intriguing artworks that reveal the soft spirit of her subjects. Using oil paint and grease pencil, Haines begins with an image in mind and then follows where it leads, allowing the essence of the animal to emerge rather than confining it to its physical accuracies alone. The artist’s intention is to communicate the lessons that animals can teach us, while also providing a bridge between the civilized and the wild, between the known and the mysterious.
We will celebrate Rebecca and her contemporary wildlife paintings from June 1st to June 30th. The Artist Feature will coincide with the Edible Art Tour, an ARTsmart sponsored event pairing the city’s best galleries with top restaurants and caterers. Pippin Contemporary will host Chef Ahmed Obo from Jambo Café on Friday June 10th, 5-8pm, and Rebecca Haines will be in attendance to discuss her work with interested visitors.
