Time-Lapse by Eva CarterFracture by Eva Carter – read the press release
Opening Reception, Friday, July 5th, 5-7p
Presentation, Saturday, July 6th, 2-3p
Show – July 2nd to July 16th

Looking at her body of work, Carter realizes it was done over a number of years and is a reflection of the passing of time in her life. She also recognizes how that passage of time has changed her approach to the creative process. Life’s changes are experienced as a slow, steady process and most often we’re not aware of the consequence of change. Carter’s work is a journal of who and where she was at any given point in her life. With every emotional experience we encounter, we become wiser and most of all, the person we are becoming. As the great painter and teacher, Robert Henri said, “Style is the way we talk in paint.” Carter has chosen Abstract Expressionism as her language.

Don’t miss this show of Carter’s colorful, emotional, and gestural abstract expressionist paintings – a reflection of her life.

Saturday, Eva will be giving a presentation about the evolution of her art career. You’ll have an opportunity to interact directly with her. Come with questions.
Beneath the Surface – New Work by Sandra Duran Wilson – read the press release
Presentation – Saturday, July 20th, 2-3pInvisible Matter by Sandra Duran Wilson
Opening Reception – Friday, July 26th, 5-7p
Show – July 17th to July 30th

Presentation – Wilson will present a gallery talk on her show Beneath the Surface sharing how science and synesthesia are central to her process of layers, images, poetry, sounds and music. When she hears music she sees colors, and numbers have sounds like musical notes. She’ll share some of the unusual materials that find their way into her work.

Wilson works in layers, beginning with a poem, word or inspiration that is written on the canvas prior to painting. This is rarely seen in the finished painting, but it informs and inspires the process. Sometimes it may be a mathematical formula or a musical score. These inspire and focus Wilson’s process of layering to the finished painting.

Join us for both the Presentation on July 20th and Wilson’s Opening Reception on the 26th.
The Exploration Continues, New Work by Aleta PippinEntering Dreamland by Aleta Pippin read press release
Opening Reception, Friday, August 16th, 5-7p
Show – August 15th through September 3rd

In 2010, Pippin’s show was “The Path of Exploration.” That exploration continues. Never one to “stand still”, Pippin is always exploring the various media. Previously working in oils and acrylics on different surfaces – traditional canvas, panels, and aluminum or copper – she continues to explore. Pippin’s new body of work will contain paintings done with oil, acrylic, ink, plaster, collage and whatever other media Pippin feels will assist in creating the surface she’s intent on achieving.

Join us to see what new ground Pippin has forged with this current body of work or whether she has discovered the Path of Exploration leads in a circle!

Opening Reception, Friday, September 27th, 5-7p
Show – September 25th through October 9th

Arshile Gorky (a hero to Shank and to her mother) said, “Abstraction allows man to see with his mind what he cannot physically see with his eyes. Abstract art enables the artist to perceive beyond the tangible, to extract the infinite out of the finite. It is emancipation of the mind. It is an explosion into unknown areas.”

Shank’s show is a tribute to her mother and fine artist, Leatrice Shank.

Talk about his show, Friday, October 25th, 4:30-5p
Opening Reception, Friday, October 25th, 5-7p
Show – October 23rd through November 6th

American Abstract Artist, Cody Hooper, is a young and up-and-coming artist who has exploded into the art scene during the last four years. New to Pippin Contemporary, Hooper’s welcome show will demonstrate the emotion that is reflective in this abstract painter’s pieces. Moving into that meditative place can be what many call “tapping in” or aligning with our intuitive resource. Setting judgment aside and allowing a more broad-based knowledge to assist during the painting process; exceptional and spontaneous passages occur that cause his paintings to connect with others on a subconscious level.
