Aleta Pippin’s solo exhibition, Landscapes of the Mind, demonstrates the breath of her work from oil to acrylic and mixed media. But more than the media Pippin uses is the emotion, passion and energy she infuses through her use of color and mark-making. Moving to the desert of Southern California at the age of six, Pippin soon fell in love with the clear light, rich blue sky, long views, and rugged mountains, a stark contrast to her birth state of Michigan. Though nature always plays a role in her work, Aleta has found the emotional attachment to desert environs is now expressing into her paintings, showing up as color, freedom and energetic movement. Exhibition runs 7/3 – 7/17 with an opening reception on Friday, July 5th, 5-7pm. This year as part of the Santa Fe Art Week, Pippin will have a closing reception on Wednesday, July 17th, 4-7pm. Other gallery artists will also be present on the 17th.
